Introductory and Intermediate Poetry Writing |

If you have no previous experience writing poetry but have always wanted to, OR if you feel you’ve achieved a certain level of success as a poet but aspire after a much higher level of excellence and knowledge, this is the course for you. During this four-week course, we’ll produce three poems a week and work on them solely for that week to enable you to move from first drafts to finished, polished, excellent poems. Then, we’ll assemble a portfolio of work at the end of the “term,” and I’ll provide marketing advice for you on how to send out and publish your poems. |

Regardless of whether you’re new to fiction writing or have already dipped your toe into the narrative waters, this fiction course is guaranteed to make you a better writer. We’ll discuss drafts, revise drafts, engage in craft talk, have daily discussions about writing topics and our writing progress, and offer constructive and meaningful criticism that’s guaranteed to take your work to the next level, no matter where you start. The criticism will be substantial and thoughtful—no “fluff” reviews allowed—but delivered in a way that respects you and your gifts as a writer. The Master Class in Poetry is a no-holds-barred approach to taking a scant ten of your best poems and reworking them to a consistently high level of musicality and muscularity and meaningfulness. It’s your option whether to come into the course with the ten poems already drafted; please feel free to bring in ten poems, if you like, that you once considered “finished” but that have failed to achieve publication. |
